About Us

Explore how our church community first formed, where we are now, and our goals for the rest of 2025.

Debre Selam Saint Michael Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Peel Region is a registered church and charity in Mississauga as of March 2025. It is under the Eastern Canada Diocese led by Archbishop Abune Demetros. Our service is currently being led by two devoted priests.

St Michael EOTC first began to form informally when a group of Tewahedo Christians came together at a community BBQ event in August 2024. Since August, our members have been growing quickly and by the Grace of God, we have been able to organize three in-person gatherings and start a weekly prayer program on Sunday evenings led by Megabi Haddis Kesis Abraham. To join our weekly prayer program, please share your contact information using the form here.

We plan to hold three events over the next several months (a spiritual conference on May 18th and July 5th and a BBQ on August 3rd) to continue to grow our members and fundraise $30,000 to move onto the next phase of our journey, which is to rent or buy a space for our church. Please support us to reach our goal so we can worship God communally right here in the Peel region.
